Set up your agent: the dashboard checklist
You're going through first-time setup and want to know what each step covers.
Your Dashboard shows a setup checklist until your agent is ready. It tracks four things; each one links to the page where you complete it. When all four are done, the dashboard switches to its live metrics view.
The four steps
- Connect your store. Connect and authorize your ecommerce platform so the agent can verify orders (and, on Growth & Pro, read products). See Connect your store.
- AI settings. Confirm the agent's model configuration. On most plans this is managed for you; if your plan includes bring-your-own-key, set your Anthropic key and model in Integrations → AI settings.
- Train your agent. Give the agent its knowledge: review your Instructions (use the AI Instructions Builder), add knowledge sources, and set up topics and quick answers. See Train your agent.
- Customize. Set the agent's name, avatar, brand color, and welcome message, and get your install snippet. See Customize the look and copy and Ways to add your agent.
You can leave and come back — completed steps stay checked. While setup is incomplete you can switch between the Onboarding and Active views with the toggle at the top of the dashboard.
Troubleshooting
- "Connect your store" won't complete → authorization step not finished → see Fix a failed store connection.
- Checklist won't switch to metrics → one of the four steps is still open → finish it; the active view appears automatically.
