Add knowledge sources
You want the agent to answer from your existing policy, FAQ, or reference pages.
Knowledge sources let the agent read your real pages instead of you re-typing them. You can add public URLs and published (link-shared) Google Docs.
Steps
- Go to Training → Knowledge sources.
- Add a source — paste a public URL or a published Google Doc link.
- Optionally tag it: mark it required vs optional, set its priority, and set "applies when" so it's used in the right context, and tie it to a topic if relevant.
- Save. We fetch and cache the page's text.
- To update a source after its page changes, use refetch. You can also edit or remove a source.
Good sources
Policy pages (shipping, returns, privacy), FAQs, sizing or care guides, warranty terms. Anything you'd point a shopper to.
Troubleshooting
- A source won't fetch → the URL isn't public, or a Google Doc isn't published/link-shared → make it publicly viewable, then refetch. If a refetch fails, the previously cached text is kept rather than wiped, so the agent doesn't suddenly lose that knowledge.
- Agent ignores a long page → very large pages are capped when cached → split the content or put the key facts into store facts or a quick answer.
- Agent uses an out-of-date version → the page changed but wasn't refetched → refetch the source.
